One of WPRK’s primary missions is to highlight up-and-coming, independent artists and share their music to the general public. One of our music events, WPRK Comes Alive, which was first launched more than a decade ago – then just last fall, relaunched – showcases rising artists who are mostly from the local Winter Park and Orlando area, though has branched out further. From rapper, Admk, to jazz ensemble, The Outerwave, Comes Alive has featured artists from various genres as well. Last fall, WPRK would come alive on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month and be held on Rollins campus in Dave’s Boathouse located in the Cornell Campus Center. For the Spring 2022 semester, however, we plan on bringing our event to the community at off campus locations like Stardust Video & Coffee and The Social, for the months of February and April. Our mission is to integrate more into creative spaces of the broader Orlando area not only to bring new listeners and love to local talent, but also to expand the supportive, growing community of WPRK itself.
